Black History Month kicks off on February 3 in Orlando with the annual reception and commemoration from 5-7:30 p.m in the Rotunda at City Hall. Mayor Buddy Dyer and ONYX Magazine will host, honoring several organizations and individuals who have made an impact in Orlando, including the Young Fathers of Central Florida, the Negro Spiritual Scholarship Foundation, and several community activists.
Also on February 3 at 7pm the Orlando Magic take on the Toronto Raptors at the Amway Center for a Black History Month event that includes a half-time performance by the Beale Street Flippers.
Culture fans can take in an African American Art Exhibit on display all month in the Orange County Administration Center during the Month of February 2017 (running through March 15). And on February 9, 2017 at 6 pm The Black History Committee of Orange County (BHCOC) and Orange County Regional History Center will host a networking reception and art exhibit unveiling, along with a guided tour of the Orange County Regional History Center. Floetry, networking, refreshments, live Entertainment, and more for $10.
On March 11 at 6 pm the Black History Committee of Orange County hosts a Celebration Gala at the Rosen Centre Hotel. The event will feature live jazz entertainment and a keynote address by Judge Lynn Toler, of the nationally syndicated and Emmy Nominated television showDivorce Court. Awards and scholarships will also be presented to various colleges and universities.
