LEGOLAND Florida’s newest attraction, The Great LEGO Race, combines the thrill of a roller coaster with virtual reality technology. Hop in the front seat on a road rally race in a LEGO-constructed world. The ever-evolving race track is chock full hazards, adventure, and fun.
You’ll race against many famous LEGO minifigure competitors in vessels you’re sure to recognize—or have built yourself. Riders race against a LEGO pirate, wizard, surfer, and pharaoh, all driving their own LEGO creations. The fun begins before you even board the ride vehicles, as you step through the ride’s entry portal which is decorated with giant versions of the racers with their LEGO vehicles. The queue area is full of graphics depicting the different racing teams and video screens revealing the virtual reality experience to come.
Aboard the ride vehicle, the virtual reality headsets are synced up with the twists, turns, climbs, and drops of the coaster, creating an all-new experience for youngsters and adults alike. In fact, The Great Race is the very first virtual reality roller coaster experience designed specifically with kids in mind, and it’s the very first time the LEGO brand integrates with virtual reality in any theme park attraction.
Riders are free to experience The Great Race without their VR headset for a more “classic” roller coaster experience. For the road rally race experience, drivers must be at least six years old and 4-feet tall to wear the headset on their adventure.
