Wine is typically paired with cheeses and other “fancy” foods, but on October 11-13, Lakeridge Winery pairs blues and barbecue at their BBQ & Blues Festival. Already known locally for their monthly outdoor festivals, the BBQ & Blues Festival brings all of your favorite Lakeridge Winery activities—live music, food & drink, a wine & cheese bar, and outdoor games like cornhole—with a major addition to the lineup: a rib-cooking competition featuring competitors from all over the country. Grill masters compete fiercely, especially when it comes to ribs. The field is sure to heat up like the grills and smokers come October.
The Competitors
Cowboys Barbeque & Rib Company (http://cowboysbbq.com/): The reigning champions make their return to the BBQ & Blues Festival this year bringing their signature Texas BBQ flavor along with a host of accolades from all across the nation. Will they once again be crowned champions, or will they be dethroned by a new challenger?
Carolina Rib King (https://carolinaribking.com/): Also boasting plenty of national awards for their BBQ, the Carolina Rib King comes to Central Florida in search of a brand new crown. This eatery makes so much food that they have to specially deliver their meats to each venue they pop up at—but can they deliver on their motto, “Grillin’ for a livin’”?
Johnson’s BBQ: This Virginia-based BBQ shop might not have much of an online appearance (only a Facebook page that was last updated in 2017), but Johnson’s makes appearances at festivals and cook-offs all across the southern U.S. to show off their world-class BBQ. This October, they’re coming to Lakeridge Winery to prove they can hang with and beat the best of the best.
