For what seems like forever now, Universal Orlando® Resort has been dropping small tidbits of info about their new attraction Skull Island: Reign of Kong. Fortunately for Universal fans and King Kong fans everywhere, the wait is over. Universal has announced that its newest attraction is open and promises to be the biggest attraction addition since The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened a few years ago.
The Attraction
Skull Island: Reign of Kong is one of the longest ride experiences in all of Universal and brings the world of King Kong into reality through the use of cutting-edge 3D technology. In previous iterations of the ride, we were set to endure the wrath of Kong as he wreaked havoc on the world around us. Now we are set to experience his world in a massive expeditionary vehicle.
The ride puts you on an island as a part of the 8th Wonder Expedition Company with creatures of unknown origin. Your specially-equipped vehicle takes you deep into the island that is full of mystery – and the home of King Kong.
What many folks don’t know is that this isn’t the first time Universal has visited the world of King Kong. An attraction named Kongfrontation was a centerpiece of Universal Studios’ entertainment when the park opened in 1990. The attraction was retired in 2002 to make way for the Revenge of the Mummy roller coaster.
