This summer, Universal Orlando Resort is unveiling its latest wonder: the Jurassic World VelociCoaster.
Scheduled to open June 10, 2021, the VelociCoaster is the newest addition to Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure. Visitors to Orlando are invited to experience the hunt and reach new heights on a rollercoaster that packs in twists, turns, and, of course, dinosaurs.
A New, High-Velocity Rollercoaster
Centered around Jurassic World’s infamous velociraptors, the VelociCoaster should be at the top of the must-ride list for those seeking acceleration and adventure.
Reaching top speeds around 70 miles per hour and death-defying heights of over 150 feet, the attraction has gained a fair amount of hype due to its thrilling story and technical feats. The VelociCoaster will also break a few records by being the tallest and fastest launch coaster in Florida.
The Jurassic World VelociCoaster Experience
While waiting to board, guests will be immersed in the sights, sounds, and shrieks of Jurassic World as they are ushered in line past life-like, animatronic raptors in stables with human cameos from the latest films including Chris Pratt’s Owen Grady and Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire Dearing.
Once locked into the coaster, guests will prepare to race alongside a pack of restrained velociraptors. However, the pace and mood of the ride takes a thrilling turn halfway through as the dangerous dinosaurs break free of their restraints and give chase.
Suddenly, the ride becomes a rapid escape from the raptors that includes top speed launches, a steep “top hat,” and a 360-degree barrel-roll inversion.
