Universal Orlando’s Volcano Bay Reopening March 2021

Universal Orlando Resort Globe

Central Florida is home to some of the world’s most famous theme parks and beaches — creating a difficult dilemma for tourists. Fortunately, Universal Orlando offers Orlando visitors the best of both worlds by combining the excitement of a theme park with the scenic paradise of a beach. The result is a tropical-themed water park that is perfect for beating the famous Florida heat: Universal Orlando’s Volcano Bay.

Following a brief closure due to the winter season and pandemic concerns, the Polynesian-inspired attraction has its sights set on a tentative March 2021 reopening so visitors and native Floridians alike can once again enjoy some refreshing fun in the sun.

Volcano Bay’s Vibrant Villages

Volcano Bay is made up of four villages, all centered around its namesake volcano, Krakatau. Each village offers a different style of fun to keep the whole family happy:

  • The mighty volcano itself, Krakatau houses some of the parks most thrilling rides. This includes the Krakatau Aqua Coaster that plunges riders through its majestic waterfall. It is also home to the Ko’okiri Body Plunge, the tallest drop capsule slide in the world.
  • Wave Village. In the sunbathing area of the park, you can relax by the park’s center wave pool, Waturi Beach, and the Puka Uli Lagoon for peak serenity.
  • River Village. Try not to fall asleep on the delightfully lazy Kopiko Wai Winding River. This village is also home to Tot Tiki Reef, the toddler play area.
  • Rainforest Village. This village includes more rides for thrill seekers such as high-speed raft rides that put multiple riders through exciting drops, turns, and banks.

Safely Soak Up Sun and Fun at Universal Orlando’s Volcano Bay

Universal Orlando has been hard at work to improve safety measures for the health and peace of mind of Volcano Bay guests. In accordance with CDC guidelines, measures will be taken to enhance sanitization procedures and implement proper distance spacing and screening. The Rosen Inn also operates within these guidelines, making it the perfect place to stay after a day spent soaking up the sun at Universal Orlando’s Volcano Bay.
