Yes, the rumors are true – there is no Pride parade during Pride month in Orlando. But don’t worry, there is still plenty of Florida-style fun. Instead of sweating in our best rainbow gear under the intense Orlando sun, we celebrate with family theme park trips and some of the largest LGBTQ music festivals and pool parties in the nation. Read on for your guide to Pride in Orlando.
Gay Days
Kick off Pride Month with this weeklong celebration open to all in the LGBTQ community. Begun in 1991 as a single day event, Gay Days is now the #1 LGBTQ vacation experience in the nation. Chill out by the pool with music and drinks; visit one of the largest LGBTQ travel, entertainment, and business expos; and enjoy trips to the Orlando theme parks during Red Shirt Days. Wear your favorite red shirt or purchase one at Gay Days and share your adventures with #RedShirtDays.
Girls in Wonderland
Girls in Wonderland gives LGBTQ women a celebration of their own. This year you can enjoy events across the International Drive area, such as Rhea Butcher at Improv Comedy Club and the Girls in Wonderland Signature Dance Party at Pointe Orlando. Of course, there will be plenty of pool parties featuring talented DJs spinning the best tunes. You can attend each event individually or purchase a pass for the full experience.
One Magical Weekend
The party never stops at One Magical Weekend at Walt Disney World. Celebrate with friends from around the world at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, the legendary House of Blues at Disney Springs, and more. Internationally-famous DJs such as Ivan Gomez, Alyson Calagna, and Toy Armada drop beats that will have you dancing the night away.
Orlando United Day
This Pride month marks the second anniversary of the Pulse shooting. Last year the city observed Orlando United Day – a Day of Love & Kindness to honor the lives of the 49 taken and to support the survivors and community. In Orlando and across the world, love and support was shown through simple but impactful volunteer projects. Click here for updates on this year’s programming and how you can get involved.
Bonus: Come Out With Pride
As we mentioned above, Orlando doesn’t have a Pride parade in June, but we do have one later in the year! Come Out With Pride takes place on October 13th and coincides with National Gay and Lesbian History Month as well as National Coming Out Day (October 11th). The whole family will enjoy the festivities including the parade, Disney Kid Zone, fireworks, and more. Take advantage of Florida’s cooler weather and spend fall break at one of the largest Pride festivals in Florida.
When booking accommodations for your Pride month vacation, you’ll want a hotel that is close to all the exciting events happening across town.
