After a run of almost 20 years, the IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth show at Disney’s Epcot park is coming to an end. The nightly spectacle, full of fireworks and gripping storytelling, is making way for an all new event entitled “Epcot Forever,” celebrating the past, present, and future of the park.
The Last Night of IllumiNations
A crowd favorite since the beginning, the IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth show is heading towards its last days at Disney’s Epcot. The nighttime spectacular first dazzled guests October of 1999 as a small portion of the Walt Disney World Millennium Celebration. IllumiNations featured a strong display of visual and audial storytelling, including a large globe out on the main lagoon, lasers, pyrotechnics, and a memorable original soundtrack. These innovative features made it a crowd-favorite for the entirety of its showing, continuing far longer than the Millennium Celebration it came with. The show will have its finale on September 30, 2019 after an impressive nearly 20 years run.
An All-New Evening Event
Immediately following the closing of IllumiNations, the brand new Epcot Forever show will debut on October 1, 2019. This show will honor the history of Epcot while looking towards the bright future ahead. It will celebrate the past 30 years with a display of fireworks, pyrotechnic technology, and new never-before-seen creative components. Epcot Forever will help usher in a new era for the treasured park with a new Guardians of the Galaxy themed roller coaster, a Ratatouille-inspired adventure, and a space-themed eatery on the horizon. With these upcoming additions, Epcot is primed to be a must-see destination on your next visit to Walt Disney World.
