Different Shows
The heart of every SAK performance is improvisation, but they have a few different shows which are structured differently. Here is a brief description of some of their most popular shows that you need to see for yourself:
- Audition! : This show gives you a behind the scenes look at the audition process for a production. 5 of the performers will audition for one of the SAK directors, and the audience casts each of them for the production in the second act.
- Gorilla Theatre: 4 performers get to play director for each other, orchestrating various improvised games, songs, and scenes concentrated on the night’s theme. Audience members will ultimately choose the best performances of the night!
- King of the Hill: 6 rounds, 7 performers, and only 1 winner chosen by the audience. Actors will perform in a series of sketches and scenes as the audience eliminates one member after every round, resulting in one King of the Hill.
- Duel of Fools: This show, SAK’s most famous, has been performed every Friday and Saturday night for over 25 years. It pits two teams of improvisers against each other, each attempting to get the most laughs by creating scenes, songs, and characters based on audience suggestions.
No matter which show you choose to see, count on laughing a lot and leaving happy. On most nights, if you buy a ticket for the first show and love it, you can get a discounted $5 ticket for the next show right afterwards. For wholesome family fun, the early shows are your best bet. But if an adult night out is more your speed, check out the later shows on the weekends.
